My Belgium Memories. Someday Would Like to Visit Bruges Again

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know I'm a sucker for striking architecture, cobbled streets, and the promise of great food. So it'south no surprise that Bruges (Brugge in Dutch) was on my radar for quite some fourth dimension. Located in northwest Belgium, Bruges is a bigger metropolis with a walkable center and a popular finish for many twenty-four hours-trippers. Advertisements

Bruges is a canal-based city with dozens of bridges and is one of several places in Europe known as the "Venice of the North." The unabridged city center is considered a UNESCO World Heritage! Since this beautiful place was high on my list, I skipped the day trip and chose to spend 2 days exploring more than of Bruges.

2 Days in Bruges

I'll be honest, my original plan for my weekend in Bruges was to photograph the heck out of the city and eat all the waffles, chocolate, and frites (french fries) I tin can handle. Merely it turns out that Bruges has and then much more to offering than only architecture and nutrient.

Intendance FOR A BEER? | As I said before, Kingdom of belgium is a famous land for beer drinkers. If you lot or anyone in your group is a beer lover, brand sure to practise some tastings of the hundreds+ of Belgian beers available.

Jorge did his own tasting at 2be Beer Wall and enjoyed it. They have groovy outdoor seating and hundreds of beers to choose from. This  individual tour focuses on chocolate and beer for 3 hours of tastings, history, and a 3-grade luncheon if you'd prefer a guide.

VISIT THE LAKE OF LOVE | Zen out at the Lake of Dear (Minnewater) and the "Lovers Span." Fable has it that if you walk the span and kiss your loved one, your love will be eternal. Even so, I missed the memo on this attraction while in Bruges, then Jorge and I didn't cross the bridge or do the buss. Wish us luck. Advertisements

Check OUT THE WINDMILLS | Another skillful place to lounge and relax is near the famous windmills in Bruges. They are located along the river on the e side of town. These windmills are free to enjoy, and some are open to the public or even have a small museum within.

DON'T FORGET THE CHOCOLATE | Belgium is also famous for its chocolate. As you walk the streets of Bruges, you'll have plenty of chocolate shops to choose from. Finish inside and attempt everything from the traditional flavors to the downright weirdo flavors! Stock up on them for souvenirs; anybody dorsum home will love you for it.

Bruges has some stunning hotels to choose from. We booked Hotel Navarra located in the historic middle. Where to Eat in Bruges

Soup – It'south a tiny store offering a variety of fresh soups in large ol' bowls. They also accept delicious sandwiches to complete the meal. It's a great spot for dejeuner but go early because they run out of soups near closing time.

That'southward Toast – This was our favorite breakfast eating place! They take amazing toasts to choose from, tasty lattes, and so much more. It's ane of those places that I wish I could bring home to Chicago and set up up somewhere nearby then I tin can keep visiting.

The Potato Bar – Yeah, an unabridged bar dedicated to potatoes. Now that's my kind of identify! We had a simple dinner here of chicken sandwiches and fries. Both were good, and the price was correct if y'all're trying not to blow your whole budget on food.

Kottee Kaffee – It's a modest cafe where you'll find excellent java and a classic breakfast. Kottee is highly rated and takes the number 1 spot on Tripadvisor for coffee & tea in Bruges.

I promise this guide gave y'all some ideas on what to exercise with your 2 days in Bruges. My biggest tip is to make sure you bring an appetite because this city doesn't play!
